It’s vital to have the right paperwork before you scrap your car. You’ll need:

-The vehicle logbook (V5C) ideally – as it proves the car belongs to you, and stops any unauthorised sales. We will stamp the yellow slip from it (V5C/3) and give this back to you so you can inform DVLA of its transfer to a Vehicle Dismantler.

-We are authorised from DVLA to issue a Certificate of Destruction (CoD), although this can only be done once the vehicle is on site, it can then be emailed direct to you within a week. This is a DVLA certificate that proves you’ve had the car recycled, and absolves you of any future responsibility for it.

As well as the scrap value, there are a couple more options when it comes to getting cash for your car when it’s given up the ghost:

-If your car has reusable parts on it this can increase the value.

-If your vehicle is unviable for you to repair but it is for us.

-If we are collecting that it is in an accessible location, complete, free from waste, that the tyres are fully inflated and the keys are available.

We offer free collection / recovery for any vehicle within 15 miles of Newcastle or throughout the North East by arrangement. We don't expect you to wait in all day for collection, that is why our drivers keep in touch with you to arrange a time to suit you from 8.30am-5pm, 6 days a week and in most cases same day collection available.

Once your car’s been scrapped and you have the completed paperwork, ring up your insurer and cancel your car insurance policy. You might be able to get a refund on any unused cover, you will automatically get a refund from DVLA on any unused road tax.
